Tanglefoot Wines

Dryanda Woodlands is one of the most significant conservation areas in WA. Go West Mine Tour

Experience the magic, allure and wonder of gold. Take a journey to a working gold mine, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. 

Kitted out in ‘high vis’ safety gear, you will visit the rim of the giant South Pit at Newmont’s Boddington Gold Mine to see huge haul trucks transporting their loads and travel through the plant where ore is crushed and copper and gold separated. 

This tour picks up local visitors from central Boddington, in the carpark near the Boddington Lions Weir. For tour times and bookings please get in touch with the friendly team at Go West below.

Wandering Heritage and Nature Trail

Stretch your legs on the recently established Wandering Heritage and Nature Trail that winds through 1.3kms of lovely bushland and along the Wologin Gully. This trail also takes you behind the Wandering Oval with a classic white picket fence boundary with a beautiful lookout over Wandering as well as a great children's playground. 

The signposted trail begins at the Wandering Caravan park.

Wandering Tavern

Recently refurbished, the Wandering Tavern is fitted out with rustic corrugated tin and beer keg light fittings. They serve ice cold tap beer and a selection of delicious menu items. Stop in and say g'day. 

Wandering Community Resource Centre

Located in the Old Agricultural Hall (1896), the Wandering Community Resource Centre (CRC) provides a variety of information and community-based services to not only locals, but to local businesses and vistors as well.

Grab a light lunch and a barista coffee.

The Wandering CRC also doubles as the local public library and toy library. The CRC provides the community with computer access, Department of Transport Licensing and a Government and Centrelink access point, among other various information and administration services.

Mount Cooke Trail

The summit of Mt Cooke is the highest point of the Darling Ranges and one of the many shorter walks you can do along the Bibbulmun Track. Spectacular views, this 16km hike is only partially marked and is approximately grade 4 in difficulty. 

The starting point for the hike begins at Sullivan Rock, just off Albany Hwy and is intermittently marked along the way. Hikers should allow approximately 4 hours for the trail and check rain and wind conditions which can affect difficulty levels. 

Reaching the summit makes the climb with spectacular views over the Darling Ranges at approximately 582m above sea level.

Boddington Hotel

The Boddington Hotel is located centrally in Boddington on Bannister Road. It offers 16 hotel rooms with ensuites. The hotel is open Monday to Saturday 10am to Midnight and 10am to 10pm on Sundays. The Hotel offers premium pub style meals for both lunch and dinner and also offers a full takeaway menu including delicious pizzas and quality coffee.

Tullis Bridge Walk

The townsite of Boddington links via a walking trail to Tullis Bridge along the Rail Reserve and is approximately a 16km return trip along the river, through open paddocks and fields and timber reserves. Out at Tullis Bridge, a separate 3km walk trail has been created that takes you around the bridge and surrounding river. Walkers will enjoy bird watching, wildflowers in season and stunning scenery. Lots of natural shady areas are available for the day tripper to stay and enjoy lunch or a snack while taking in the natural environment of Tullis Bridge. Tullis Bridge is located approximately 9 km’s out of Boddington. The bridge was built in 1912 in the trestle style and was used to link the railway line from Pinjarra to Narrogin for use by the timber industry up until 1968. Tullis Bridge now remains as two separate structures at either side of the riverbank as it was set alight in the early 1990s by some campers in the area. The drive out to Tullis Bridge along Morts Road offers some magnificent vistas, taking you past the back of the BHP Boddington Bauxite Mine, Marradong Reserve, olive groves and orchards.

Hotham River Foreshore - Lion's Weir

Available all year round it boasts the Lions Weir, a tranquil grassed picnic area with gazebo, and BBQs, to enjoy with friends and family. Relax amongst the natural attractions of the Hotham River with a unique fish ladder, abundant bird life, open park space and walk trails along the river banks. In summer, you are able to walk over the weir to the other side of the river and enjoy the wildlife on and around the river's edge. The Lion's Weir is part of the new award winning Hotham Park area where the tranquility of the river can be enjoyed.

Ranford Pool Trail

Ranford Pool is one of those special spots the locals would prefer you did not know about. It is one of the most beautiful spots in the Peel Region for a picnic and a nice and easy 4km return walk. Starting from Lions Weir in Boddington, this trail follows the Hotham River to historic Ranford Pool. Fishing, canoeing and birdwatching can be enjoyed in this part of the river. The walk follows the line of the old railway and the Hotham River and winds its way through paperbark tree forests, past Long Donkey Farm and passes by scenic rural paddocks. The first part of the walk is fully paved, wide enough for push bikes, horses, prams and wheelchairs and takes in the scenery along the river’s edge along to the Hotham Valley Bridge. Once you have passed the bridge the path reverts to a more natural state and ends up as a narrow walking trail only. The water hole is a deeper part of the river created when the Tannin Factory was operational in the early 1970’s, and is quite popular with the local children as a swimming hole. The walk trail is signposted along its length and also has informative signs on the different bird species and fish species you can experience. *Please note this trail starts at the Boddington Memorial Park near the caravan park.

Boddington Arts Council

Located on the corner of Wuarming Avenue and Johnstone Street the Arts Centre sells a diverse range of handcrafted local arts and crafts and is the centre for many of our community arts groups. The shop is open Monday - Wednesday & Friday - Sunday from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Boddington Visitor & Interpretative Centre

In 2017 the old school in Boddington was refurbished to accommodate a new visitor and interpretive centre that included information about the town’s history, environment, railways and people. The Boddington Visitor and Interpretive Centre is located off Wuraming Ave and is situated with out Library and the Rusty Camp Oven Cafe, just across from the Hotham River. Here, you can find information about the town’s history, environment, railways and people. With interactive displays, brouchers on the region and friendly staff, the centre provides a one-stop shop for visitors looking to learn more about the town and what they can do during their visit.

Barna Mia Nocturnal Wildlife Sanctuary

Take a guided nocturnal tour in the beautiful Dryandra Woodlands, a sanctuary that is home to some of Western Australia’s most unique and endangered native critters, including the Numbat, Bilby, Woylie and Quenda.

St Alban's Church

The site of the church and cemetery is located at Marradong, on the Pinjarra Williams Road.  The foundation stone of the Church, which is still in excellent condition, was laid by one Mr Arthur Batt on 17th April, 1894. The last service recorded was in September 2012. 

The cemetery, which is still in use today, sits immediately behind the church and takes in a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. The church is a relatively small, stone, gothic style building, standing before a small cemetery.  The building is a single storey, stained glass windows, jarrah floored church.

Inside the church hangs an honour board for local service men for the first and second world wars.  The graveyard marks the original settlers of the Marradong and Boddington area. 

Dilyan's Grave

Located on the Bannister/Marrodong Road approxcimately 5kms south of Boddington, just to the west of the Boddington Cemetery, and marked by a roadside sign.  Dilyan lived with his 'mob' in the Wandering Williams area, although he spent the last year of his life in Boddington. 

Dilyan accompanied Sir John Forrest in the North West and worked as a shepherd in the Marradong/Boddington area for HS Ranford, Jack Dowsett and Charles Farmer.  He was a highly recognised tracker and known for his bravery.  When Sir John Forest reached the Kimberly he named a spring after the 'intelligent' Dilyan.  In addition, Dilyan received a gun with a plate on it to commemorate his bravery.  B.S Ranford and Jack Dowsett later employed Dilyan as a shepherd for his notable tracking skills.  

 Charlie Farmer was later informed of his performance and likewise, employed him.  In 1886, whilst working for Farmer, he was sent to town to obtain some goods.  On return, he was stabbed to death by a member of a feuding tribe of local natives.  

Although this is not the actual site where Dilyan lays to rest, the general region is the whereabouts of his murder. The area is made up of typical jarrah and wandoo forest and is slightly cleared at the grave site. The grave is indicated by white kerbing and a granite headstone. A plaque rests on the headstone, articulating the significance of Dilyan’s pursuits. The Inscription states, “Erected by the Royal Western Australian Historical Society, and the Boddington Shire Council to commemorate Dilyan. The aboriginal who accompanied John, afterwards Lord Forrest, and the surveyor, H. S. Ranford, on expedition to the Cambridge Gulf area in the 1880’s. He was very highly regarded by both and died near Boddington.” 

South 32 Overland Conveyor Belt

The largest overland conveyor belt in the southern hemisphere crosses the Lower Hotham Road here. Red bauxite rock is transported along this conveyor belt for more than 50 kms, to a refinery near the town of Collie, where it is turned into aluminium powder. The conveyor belt can be viewed from a lookout off Red Hill Rd, located off Pinjarra-Williams Road.

The Williams Woolshed

The Williams Woolshed is a family operated business located 150km South East of Perth, Western Australia. The Woolshed is a great location to stop off with friends and family as you make your way through the Great Southern Region.The Williams Woolshed comprises of retail stores and a 100+ seat café. We are open 7 days a week 8am to 4pm. Offering a great variety of retail stores located here at the Woolshed, take your time walking through the 6 different stores from the clothing shop which stocks the latest woollen and cotton brands, through to gift  & kitchenwares. There is also a dedicated Kitchen Larder that stocks local produce you can take home with you.

Williams Hotel

The recently renovated Williams Hotel has a classic country pub atmosphere complete with a beer garden, sports bar, great food, frequent live music and accommodation.

Quindanning Hotel

The Quindanning Hotel is one of the most easily recognizable historic buildings in the district, and one that is still very much in use today. With it's generous use of Jarrah panelling, open wood fires (during winter), quiet location, large gardens and long verandahs, the Quindanning Hotel is ideal for a weekend or mid-week getaway.

The Hotel boasts a fully-licensed restaurant, 16 accommodation rooms, a traditional country guest-house, and a pool room with jukebox - all overflowing with unique old-world charm. Quindanning is a passionate supporter of live original music, so it is wise to keep your ears tuned for the exciting and extremely talented musicians that grace centre stage. Lunches are served daily between 12 and 2, and evening meals are available from 6pm to 8pm (6:00 8:30pm during summer).

Jesse Martin's Historical Village

This unique collection of memorabilia from the Williams district (and others) has been complied by passionate local farmer, Jesse Martin. The project began in 1976, with building of a replica inn, complete with original fittings and has grown to encompass a general store and other replica buildings, farm machinery and an extensive collection of various paraphernalia.

Williams Nature Reserve

The Williams Nature Reserve is Located 10km North West of the Williams Townsite. It is set aside for the conservation of flora and fauna and has long been visited by locals and wildflower enthusiasts. Following developmetns of the site it now provides visitors with suitable access and day-use facilities such as parking, information, a lookout and picnic table. Turn off Albany Highway into Mckenzie Road, which is well signposted. It is hoped that a longer walktrail will be established at the site in the near future.

Williams Heritage Trail

The Heritage Trail was developed by the Williams Historical Society, Williams District High School and Williams Shire Council. The trail explores early areas settlement and has two sections - a 1km walk around the townsite and a 35km scenic drive to Quindanning. Please note, many of the historic sites are only viewable from the road as they are now on private property. Download the trail brochure here.

Baccus Lord of the Grapes

A quick detour down Gold Mine Rd just north of Boddington and you'll discover this Len Zuk’s cement sculpture of Baccus, the Roman God of wine and agriculture - a fitting combination for Marradong Country. Here are some interesting facts about the party boy;

• He was the god of more than just wine. Baccus was primarily known as the god of agriculture and wine but was also associated with fertility, drama, and revelry. In regards to agriculture, he was depicted as a god of trees and forest and was often sought ought to help the orchards grow.    

• Loved a costume. Always dressed in party-ready attire with accompanying grape bunch(es), a wine cup, and a stylish crown of ivy atop his head.     

• He had famous parents. Baccus was the son of the god Jupiter (Zeus) and the Theben princess, Semele, making him the only god born to a mortal mother.

• He was the youngest member of the 12 Olympians. Also referred to as the pantheon of 12 major gods, Baccus held the last seat at this prestigious table. Although he wasn’t the most powerful, being the god of celebrations, wine, and ecstasy, he was arguably the most popular.

• He threw huge parties. Secret ritualistic parties called Bacchanalia were held mid-March, attended only by women at first. The festivals soon were opened to men and took place five times a month. They became the ancient day frat party, filled with drunken revelry, sexual liberty, and general debauchery. They were so infamous that they were banned for a time by the Roman Senate. 

Codjatotine Rest Area & History Stop

Situated 15km out of the Wandering town on the Wandering-Pingelly Road the Codjatotine History Boards are a reminder of the early development of the district via displays and information boards. This stop is a interesting look at the regions' beginnings and offers picnic spots and public toilets.

South32 Information Boards

Long Gully Bridge (Old bridge) and Bilya Djena Bidi (New bridge)

Lost to a fire in 2015, it is an important crossing on the Bibbulmun Track.
